The Unload List [Poetry: Anytime, Anyplace…]

Poetry: Anytime, Anyplace, About Anything – The Unload List

By, Donna M. Monnig

Today’s NaPoWriMo challenge was to write a poem “consisting entirely of things you’d like to say, but never would,” to someone. Not something that I would normally do, but in the spirit of NaPoWriMo I give you “The Unload List.”

The Unload List
You’re irresponsible.
You expect too much.
That chip on your shoulder?
Is Not My Problem. The
world doesn’t owe you
a free ride. I don’t owe
               you anything.
You owe me, but you’ll
never return all of the
favors, money, or time.
You just expect more.
I’ve had enough. I’m tired.
Try helping yourself…
                     for once!
I have all the patience in
the world for someone
who TRIES. But all I hear
from you is more lies.
Empty promises don’t
               fill themselves.
Enough is enough. Stop
making excuses.
         Life is tough.
News Flash: It’s hard
Not Just You. So put
down the bottle, the
cigarettes; then tell
me you don’t have money.
Get a job, work a day, or
two, in your life. Then
maybe I’ll, I don’t know,

    • You’re truely a good friend. First of all, You Actually Read My Poetry, and secondly, you take the time to comment on it. You must have the patience of a saint!
      Thank you!
      God Bless,

Donna, it is never a chore to read good poetry! I actually LOVE getting the email notifications that tell me you’ve put something new up. It’s nice to be able to stop thinking about homework for a few minutes while I read.
    Thank YOU for posting!
