Heading on a Walk [Poetry: Anytime, Anyplace…]

Poetry: Anytime, Anyplace, About Anything – Heading on a Walk

By, Donna M. Monnig

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt was to go for a walk and write about it. Well, I didn’t have time to go for  a walk today, but I didn’t let that stop me from writing about it.

Heading on a Walk

There’s no time to take
       a walk today,
Some days are all work
       without any play.

So, though for a break
       I haven’t the time,
I can still take a refreshing
       walk in my mind.

I’ll see white roses and
       pick a few,
I’ll find a penny and put
       it in my shoe.

I’ll see a paint horse
       racing the wind,
And I’ll take a peek
       around the rivers bend.

I might visit a castle as
       I pass through,
I might even dance in
       its ballroom too.

The best thing about a
       walk in your brain,
Is that you can truely
       do anything.
