Poetry: Anytime, Anyplace, About Anything – Calm After the Storm

By, Donna M. Monnig

thunder and lightening

Calm After the Storm

Lightening pierced the
       midnight sky,
Displeased, Thunder wailed
       a booming cry.

The Wind, it raged with
       invisible force,
As the Cowboy waited it out;
       calming his Horse.

The Cowboy feared not the
       Lightening and rain,
Even as his Horse tugged
       hard on the reins.

The Cowboy simply spoke
       gruff, soothing words,
‘Til night turned to day with
       sunshine and birds.

This poem just kind of jumped into my head, so I decided to post it for today rather than do the NaPoWriMo prompt.

I see he got his horse back.
In all seriousness though, I LOVE this poem! Storms are very high on my list of EPIC.
