Poetry: Anytime, Anyplace, About Anything – Fortune 500-ish

By, Donna M. Monnig

Fortune Cookie

Fortune 500-ish
You will meet someone new and exciting.
Your dog will not have kittens.
You’ll find a cottage, warm and inviting.
By a rattlesnake, you’ll not get bitten.
You will write your resignation, and turn it in.
You’ll buy yourself a chocolate cake.
You’ll find a new job where you’ve never been.
You will learn how to ice skate.
You will write a number one best seller.
You will receive anonymous flowers.
You will find vintage wine in your celler.
You will wake up – without magical powers.
You’ll be asked to be in a play; say no.
Do not eat any olives for at least a week.
There is no gold at the end of your rainbow.
Immediately learn how to speak Greek.
A good looking stranger will ask for a date.
A stray animal will seek refuge with you.
You’ll win the lottery, tell no one of your fate.
For one day, everything you hear will be true.
Your phone will ring: do not answer!
You will solve a murder – or be murdered.
You will hear Thriller, and become a dancer.
Soon, you will be told something absurd.

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt was to basically write a poem with a bunch of lines like a fortune cookie.

    Very cute poem, Donna!!
But I’m sorry about the play, and the phone call you shouldn’t answer, and Thriller… especially Thriller. :(
