Poetry: Anytime, Anyplace, About Anything – The Glistening Wilderness
By, Donna M. Monnig
The Glistening Wilderness
The stars glisten in the black velvet sky,
The moon illuminates the land below.
The lake reflects the beings so high,
As slowly the water ripples and flows.
The cowboy lays on his saddle and bedroll,
The campfire crackles with a dancing light.
His horse nibbles on the grassy knoll,
Gently hobbled so he won’t stray in the night.
The wolves howl from deep within the wood,
They howl every night for reasons unknown.
The cowboy doesn’t worry like others would,
For him the wilderness is simply his home.
