Echoes of Time

Echoes of Time: A Collection of Rhyme   By, Mildred & Donna Monnig

“This is quite an abitious volume. There is so much to be found inside – poems, narratives, quotes, color photographs, epitaphs, line art. It’s clear the authors have put in a great deal of effort not just in the poetry but in all the complimentry elements. I enjoyed the theme, particularly the Old West, and could relate to many of the historic moments discussed. The imagery is sharp at times, and the rhyme does work well to hold the statements together and give momentum to the next pair of rhyming lines.”  A Judge’s commentary from a book awards contest.

Echoes of Time: A Collection of Rhyme is a wonderful book of poetry that is very easy to understand. It is not as complex as some poetry and I think that is what appealed to me the most; every message in every poem is clearly understood throughout the book. I got to know one of the authors of this book when I took a class with her at college and I now understand why poems such as these were included in the book; they describe her, her life (western), her likes (knights, etc) and the humorous side of her. I would highly recommend this book to a friend and my concluding thoughts on the book would be this: if you are looking for easy-to-understand poetry that is fun and even humorous, then this is the book for you. It is definitely a must read!!
